Bid to smuggle heroin foiled

ISLAMABAD, Jan 22: Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) had foiled bid to smuggle heroin and arrested husband and wife, an ANF spokesman said here on Saturday. He said the ANF, Rawalpindi, on a tip-off, organized a team under the supervision of Capt Wajid Bashir to carry out snap check of passengers at Islamabad Airport.

The team intercepted two Dubai-bound passengers Mohammad Javed and his wife Bushra Javed and recovered 575 grams heroin from Javed shoes and their stomach. Javed had swallowed 14 capsules of heroin while his wife had taken 55 capsules. An FIR has been registered with the ANF Rawalpindi police station and investigations are in progress.

Online adds: The Rawalpindi police have arrested seven persons during the ongoing operation against anti-social elements and recovered huge amount of heroin, charas, liquor and arms.

Cantt police arrested two persons and seized 220gms of charas from them while RA Bazaar Police arrested Pervez Akhter and Tahir Abbas and seized 350gms of charas.— Staff Reporter
