KHAIRPUR, Jan 22: The district chapter of the People’s Party Parliamentarians has called for construction of small dams in hilly areas of the district. A meeting of the chapter was held at the Jilani house here on Sunday. PPP office-bearers from eight talukas and a large number of workers attended the meeting.

It proposed dams at Naseer Faqir Jalalani, Ubhan Shah, Adham Sultan and Shadi Shaheed.

The meeting said the dams would not only help in harvesting large portion of hilly areas but would also fulfil drinking water needs.

The PPP chapter also decided to hold a series of protests against excesses of the district government, non-provision of basic facilities to the people and unemployment in the district.

HESCO: SDO of the Priyaloi sub-division of the Hesco, Manzoor Soomro, has initiated crackdown against defaulters and illegal power connections.

Hesco officials off loaded a 100kv transformer from the Langah village which suspended power supply to 20 villages, including Ahmed Kalhoro, Ganhino Kalhoro and Pir Mangio.

Meanwhile, an 11kv line was disconnected due to which 30 villages, including Hajan Shah, Pir Hothi Nothi, Allah Wasayo, Chhatan Shah, Janwari, Nawab and Ali Jalbani, turned dark.
