Hissam shines for bankers

LAHORE, Jan 19: Bank Alfalah and Soneri Bank, both won their matches easily in the R G Hyder polo on Thursday. Three goals by Hissam Ali Hyder propelled Bank Alfalah to a 6-2 win over Guard Filters.

The losers led the first chukker 1-0 through Taimur Ali Malik’s field goal.

The winners staged a comeback, taking 3-1 lead in the second chukker. Hissam scored back-to-back goals, converting a 60 and 30 yard penalty hit with lofted shots. Faaiz Rahim Khan pumped in a field goal after a long chase.

After a goalless third chukker, the bankers dominated the fourth chukker adding three more goals against one they conceded to complete the scoring.

Agha Murtaza Ali Khan scored two goals for the winners while Hissam slammed in his third. For the losers, Taimur scored his second.

Two goals each by Ahmed Ali Tiwana, Asif Tiwana and Ahmad Nawaz Tiwana guided Soneri Bank to 6 1/2- 2 win over Army. Half-goal was the handicap of the winners.

For Army, Sufi Muhammad Aamir scored both goals.
