MANSEHRA: Two people were killed in road accidents here on Tuesday.

A passenger coach overturned on the Hazara Expressway due to heavy rain killing a woman and injuring 20 people, including children. The accident occurred near the Pano Interchange after the driver lost control of the coach due to the slippery road.

The coach carried over 20 people and was on the way from Lahore to Thakot The Rescue 1122 personnel shifted the injured to the King Abdullah Teaching Hospital, where a woman died. Doctors handed over her body to the family for burial.

However, 10 injured, mostly from the Battagram area, were shifted to the Ayub Medical Complex, Abbottabad. Doctors declared five of them to be in critical condition.

In another incident, Sher Mohammad, a 20-year-old resident of Sandysar area, was seriously injured after the motorcycle he rode skidded on the Mansehra-Naran-Jalkhad Road. Locals shifted him to the King Abdullah Teaching Hospital but doctors declared him dead. The heavy rain, which began in upper parts of Hazara Division on Monday night, continued all through Tuesday intermittently.

ROBBERY BID: A trader and his driver were injured as robbers fired at them near the Gujra Bridge in Pulrah area here on Tuesday.

The injured, including flour supplier Mohammad Iqbal and his driver, were shifted to the King Abdullah Teaching Hospital.

Robbers tried to intercept Iqbal as he was travelling in a car from Tanawal to Mansehra after collecting over Rs1 billion from shopkeepers, but the driver sped away despite firing. Police said they had begun carrying out raids to arrest attackers.
