THE examination management section of an Islamabad-based university was clearly not vigilant enough to notice what kind of a paper the first semester students of Bachelor of Electrical Engineering (BEE) were supposed to attempt. In the English paper of BEE, which made waves on the social media, the students were given a question that was based on a highly unethical and uncivil premises, which was eccentric and idiosyncratic.

It was not only a matter of one specific religion, mind you. An incestuous relationship is a statutory crime in every religion and in every country across the globe.

In a country like Pakistan, which has high family values and morals plus cultural norms that are even enlightened by the golden injunctions of our religion, there is zero tolerance for such an abominable act, as it is against the norms and values that are based on modesty, civility, and mutual respect among siblings.

Freedom of speech and expression is misconstrued by some evil-minded pseudo-liberals to advocate such practices that are unacceptable to every law, civilisation, religion, region and society across the globe.

The examination question was a manifestation of a psychopathic mindset that has no respect for the relations among siblings. This was an attack on our values, culture, religious norms and conduct that we all have been taught, and was against humanity per se.

In-depth inquiry and action should be conducted against the faculty involved. Importantly, educational institutions should be more vigilant and must have in place checks and balances on their systems and faculty members because morality and mannerism are above everything else when it comes to producing good human beings.
