ISLAMABAD: An elderly woman was murdered by her husband in the area of Nilore, police said on Monday.

The deceased was identified as Zahida Bibi, 58, they said, adding that her husband allegedly fired at her when she was sleeping.

Later, the man escaped from the house, the police said, adding the police registered a murder case against the man, in response to a complaint lodged by his son.

The complainant, Farrukh Shahzad, said his father retired from a university some four years ago and his mental condition was not stable.
