RAWALPINDI: On the directions of the Director General Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA) Saif Anwar Jappa, the civic agency has hired Mott McDonald Pakistan Company to inform about the new determination of urban limits peri-urban structure plan and site development zone Rawalpindi.

With the help of this company, the boundaries are being determined for the next 25 years, in which different types of zones have been suggested, as green zone, residential zone, industrial zone and agro-farm zone, etc.

RDA spokesman said that under the direction of the DG RDA, the authority has prepared a 25-year planning document in collaboration with the local government regarding Master Plan Rawalpindi. He said that which includes four tehsils Gujjar Khan, Kallar Syedan, Taxila and Kahuta areas, housing schemes, industrial areas and central business and other places.

He said that housing societies and industrial areas cannot be built outside the site development zone. He said that according to the instructions of the government, the areas outside the site development zones will be for agriculture and environment.

He said that on the direction of the DG RDA, meetings were held with all stakeholders in all the tehsils (Gujar Khan, Kallar Syedan, Taxila and Kahota) and later the Assistant Commissioners of the four tehsils. The copies of the proposed maps have been given to assistant commissioners for discussion with local stakeholders and general public and have been directed to display in tehsil offices.

He said peri-urban structure plan has been uploaded on RDA website www.rda.gop.pk.

He further said that the general public was requested that if there is any objection or suggestions related to it, they can be submitted to the offices of the Director Town Planner Mohammad Tahir Meo and assistant commissioners in the next ten days so that the objections and suggestions can be included in the plan.
