ISLAMABAD: Information Minister Marriyum Aurangzeb has accused the PTI of unleashing a “targeted social media campaign” against the government’s free-flour scheme.

In a statement issued on Sunday, she said those who had looted flour, bread and sugar from people for four years were trying to make the prime minister’s flour scheme controversial.

Ms Aurangzeb also dismissed reports circulating on social media claiming that low-quality flour was being distributed at several centres set up by the government across the country.

She said it was beyond her understanding why PTI leaders objected to flour, transport and electricity initiatives.

Meanwhile, Ms Aurangzeb refuted a news report alleging that the premier was against holding elections.

She urged the media to publish news stories issued by the PM’s Office or information ministry.
