TOBA TEK SINGH: The Faisalabad Development Authority (FDA) has launched a helpline, 1237, to facilitate the citizens to get information through phone calls. The helpline was inaugurated by FDA Director General Muhammad Asif Chaudhry.

Additional Director General Abid Husain Bhatti, Chief Engineer Mehr Ayub, directors Junaid Hasan Manj, Suhail Maqsood and Yasir Ijaz Chatta, deputy directors Abdullah Noor, Humaira Ashraf, Mian Izharul Haq and Shah Jahan Babar were also present.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr Chaudhry said a number of reforms were being made to improve the quality of the FDA services while the helpline was a part of these measures.

He added that this system would be expanded in the future, keeping the public response in view. He explained that the objective of the helpline system initiative was to curb the agent mafia and to provide authentic and true information to the citizens.

He maintained that the citizens could get the required information relating to the Town Planning, Estate Management departments, including issuance of the no objection certificates (NOCs), town planning report, ownership certificate, completion certificate, residential and commercial building plan approval, legal status of housing schemes and their approval process, transfer of properties, katchi abadis matters and the various other services of FDA.

KILLED: A robbery suspect was killed in Toba Tek Singh in an exchange of fire with two motorcyclists.

Police spokesperson told the media that two robbers allegedly snatched cash and a motorcycle from two men of Chak 334-GB Rajjowal on Khikha-Pirmahal Road.

When the men offered resistance, one of the robbers opened fire at them but they remained unhurt; however, a bullet hit his accomplice, leaving him wounded.

The suspect who had opened fire managed to flee, leaving his accomplice behind. Later, police shifted the injured suspect to the Chuttiana Rural Health Centre where he succumbed to his injury.

The deceased was identified as Liaqat Ali Sanpal of Chak 772-GB, Pirmahal.
