RAWALPINDI: The Punjab government has decided to keep all centres set up for free distribution of wheat flour closed on Fridays.

This was stated in a meeting held with Commissioner Liaquat Ali Chatha in the chair. The meeting was held to review the free wheat flour bags distribution at points established across the division.

Deputy Commissioner Dr Hasan Waqar Cheema and other officials attended the meeting while the deputy commissioners Attock, Jhelum and Chakwal participated through video link.

Speaking on the occasion, the commissioner said according to the directives of Chief Minister Mohsin Naqvi, Fridays will be weekly off in the whear distribution centres. The distribution of the free flour will will resume on Saturday.

Meanwhile, a delegation of Chamber of Commerce and Industry Chakwal met the commissioner and briefed him about problems being faced by them.

The delegation led by chamber president Waqar Zafar Bakhtavari included group leader Qazi Mohammad Akbar and representatives of the business community of Chakwal. The commissioner said the administration and business community should work together to provide facilities to the people.

He said he already had passed directions to all deputy commissioners to facilitate the business community who wanted to create employment opportunities for general public by generating different economic activities. A proposal was made by the chamber representatives to establish an industrial estate in Nila Dola.

Furthermore, the commissioner also presided over a meeting held to review progress on work at Rawalpindi Institute of Urology and Transplantation and said there was no room for further delay in making the project fully functional.

He said he will hold another meeting in the hospital on Tuesday to review the implementation of the targets given to all the departments.
