KARACHI: City administration on Wednesday continued its action against profiteering and imposed a collective fine of Rs1.94 million on the violators.

According to the reports submitted by the deputy commissioners of all seven districts of Karachi division, as many as 196 shopkeepers were fined.

One shop in district Korangi was sealed in the campaign against the violation.

Commissioner Muhammad Iqbal Memon directed all deputy commissioners and other officials of district administration and bureau of supply and prices to take strict action against the profiteers and ensure that the essential food items were available to the common men on officially notified rates during Ramazan across the city.

Official sources said that a WhatsApp group had also been created by the office of commissioner to be in touch with the deputy commissioners and other officials of district administration.

They said that the commissioner visited different parts of districts Central, South, Keamari and East to review the arrangements for Bachat bazaars and price checking activities being undertaken by the district administration officials.
