NAB arrests co-accused in land case

LAHORE, Jan 16: The National Accountability Bureau, Punjab, has arrested Munawar Husain, a co-accused in the land acquisition case. He has been nabbed with reference to land acquisition collector Amjad Husain Sandal who is already under arrest.

According to a NAB release on Monday, another person connected with this case — Afzaal Husain — had been arrested last week.

Amjad is accused of committing a fraud of Rs90 million in connivance with different people on the pretext of bogus claims.

Munawar Husain in connivance with and owing to the misuse of authority of Amjad was involved in corrupt practices.

He received cost of land and damages amounting to Rs2.5 million without any justification through a bogus claim based on forged documents.

The accused obtained pecuniary advantage of Rs2.5 million on bogus claim. He has been remanded in custody for 15 days. —APP
