LOWER DIR/MANSEHRA: The annual elections for the district and sub-divisional bar associations in Lower Dir for 2023-24 were held on Saturday.

Kifayatullah Bukhari Advocate of the Islamic Lawyers Forum (ILF) was elected president of the Timergara district bar, bagging 98 votes against the 96 votes clinched by Jehan Bahadar of Grand Alliance Lawyers (GAL), formed by lawyers affiliated with ANP, PPP, PTI, JUI-F and PML-N.

Mohammad Yar Advocate of GAL was elected vice-president and Ajman Nawab of GAL general secretary. Imdadullah Advocate of GAL was elected joint secretary and Khurshid Ali Advocate of ILF finance secretary. Junaid Khan of GAL was elected librarian and Mohammad Yousaf member executive council.

Meanwhile, Nagin Khan Advocate of Malgari Wakilan was elected president unopposed and Mian Amjad Ali of ILF general secretary of the Samarbagh sub-divisional bar.

Waqas Faisal of Malgari Wakilan was elected finance secretary and Habibur Rahim member of the executive council.

Also, Wajid Khan Advocate of ILF was elected president and Jaidar Khan of GAL general secretary of the Chakdara sub-divisional bar for the next term.

GAL’s Mohammad Iftikhar was elected vice-president, Muqadar Khan joint secretary, Ihsanullah Khan finance secretary and Zeeshanuddin librarian.

Separately, Mohammad Rafique Yusuf Advocate was elected president of the Mansehra district bar on Saturday, securing 273 votes against 228 votes obtained by his rival and former president Waqas Raza Khan.

Azhar Sajjad was elected general secretary, Ahsan Aman joint secretary and Mohammad Mushtaq Khan senior vice-president.
