Probe into death of prisoners ordered

FAISALABAD, Jan 14: Three prisoners died mysteriously and an inquiry had been ordered to ascertain causes of their death. Sources said Amir Ali, 62, of Chiniot felt pain in his chest on Thursday. He was rushed to the DHQ hospital where he died. Hanif, 65, of Jaranwala was taken to the DHQ hospital with severe headache on Friday evening where he breathed his last.

Sajjad of Toba Tek Singh died in the jail barrack due to cardiac arrest.

The autopsy was conducted at the Allied Hospital by a board and samples from the bodies were sent for chemical examination to ascertain the cause of death.

None of the officials from the Faisalabad Central Jail was ready to comment over the deaths of three prisoners.

When contacted, prisons DIG Nadeem Kokab Warraich confirmed the deaths, adding that an inquiry was being conducted by him to find the cause of deaths.

He said two of the prisoners died in hospital while the third one died in the jail barrack.
