CHAGAI: Five coaches of a freight train carrying 112 tonnes of sugar were sealed on the suspicion of smuggling after the consignment was transported from the capital of Balochistan to the Naukundi area of Chagai district without any legal permit, officials said.

Chagai Deputy Commissioner Hussain Jan Baloch said the sugar was transported to Naukundi without any official permits and the owner could not provide any legal documents within the deadline set for the purpose.

“On suspicion that this sugar has been transported to Naukundi for further smuggling to Afghanistan, all five coaches of the train [moving towards Zahedan] were sealed by the Taftan assistant commissioner in the presence of Customs officials and Naukundi station master.”

He added that that the confiscated sugar was later handed over to Customs officials at Naukundi.
