LAHORE, Jan 13: An eight-member medical team from the USA, which accompanied former Pakistan Engineering Congress vice-president Syed Anwaar Hasnaat, has treated some 900 earthquake survivors in Abbotabad, Balakot and Muzaffarabad. According to a news release issued here on Friday, Dr Naveen Sultana, who is assistant professor of paediatrics at Stanford University, California, said the Pakistani-origin American doctors team had brought with them medicines worth hundreds of thousands of rupees that included pneumonia, antibiotics, anti-infection and others.

She said the doctors had provided treatment and medicines to some 900 quake survivors during the four-day stay in affected areas.

Dr Naveen said the Pakistani community residing in the USA was fully aware of the problems being faced by quake survivors and were ready to help them till their complete rehabilitation.

After visiting the affected areas personally, she said she would further persuade the Pakistani community in the USA to launch a formal movement for rehabilitation of survivors.

The medical team comprised Dr Rehan Mahmood, Dr Irfan Mahmood, Dr Nadia Sultana Jafry, Dr Hifza Hasnaat, Dr Amal Sultana, Dr Sofia and Dr Syed Jafar Mahmood.
