Three more die of cold

SIALKOT, Jan 13: Three more people, including two women, died of severe cold in various parts of the district here on Friday while the mercury dropped to -3 degree Celsius. Reports said an unidentified person died of cold in Sialkot city, Rasulan Bibi (57) in Sambrial and Bashiran (48) in Badiana.

Three days ago, cold had left four people dead in the district.

Meanwhile, a number of cattle and birds were also killed by cold in border areas along the Sialkot Working Boundary. Villagers told the press that the foggy weather had damaged the fodder crops in border areas, creating an acute shortage.

Dense fog blanketed both the neighbouring Sialkot and Narowal districts on Friday. Cold winds coming from the icy Alps of neighbouring Occupied Jammu and Kashmir intensified the chill, forcing the people to stay indoors, besides paralyzing civic and trade activities.
