MA student shot dead in Okara

OKARA, Jan 13: An MA student was shot dead by two unidentified armed motorcyclists on Akhtarabad Road on Eid night. Osama, the Punjab University student, was on way from Lahore to his village 34/1-AL by his motorcycle. On the way, armed motorcyclists intercepted him and shot the student dead on the spot and escaped.

Renala Sadar police are investigating.

DEPRIVED: A family was deprived of cash, two mobile phones and valuables worth Rs210,000 on Okara-Faisalabad Road.

Haji Nasrullah of Sabri Colony was returning to Okara by his car along with his family from Jaranwala. On the way, one of the tyres of their vehicles got punctured. In the meanwhile, another car (LMO-4876) with six occupants, including two women, stopped near them. On the pretext of helping the family, the accused sprayed some drugs on them which got them unconscious. Later, they fled after relieving the family of cash and valuables.

Police are going into the matter.

VISIT: Chief of Naval Staff Admiral M. Afzal Tahir will arrive here on Saturday (today) for a two-day visit.

He would also call on Defence Minister Rao Sikandar Iqbal at his residence, DCO Ghulam Nabi Krori said here on Friday.
