SUKKUR, Jan 13: Two persons were killed and four others injured in an armed clash between Chachar and Sundrani tribesmen in the Sodho Sundrani village of the Ghotki district on Friday. According to reports, Chachar and Sundrani tribes were at war for a long time over a land dispute.

A group of armed Chachar tribesmen raided the village on Friday and opened an indiscriminate fire.

As a result, an elder of the Sundrani tribe, Sodho Sundrani, and his nephew, Ali Gohar Sundrani, were killed on the spot.

Nadir Ali, son of Sodho Sundrani, Ali Bux Sundrani and Asif Sundrani were injured in the incident.

Later, the Sundrani tribesmen retaliated and fired on the attackers. They managed to injure Mohammad Nawaz Chachar of the rival tribe.

The injured persons were admitted to a local hospital.

A case has been registered at the Katcho Bhindi police station against 16 Chachar tribesmen.

RALLY: More than 100 residents of various localities in Sukkur took out a procession and observed a sit-in in front of the press club on Friday against shortage of water in their areas for last four days.

The protesters belonged to Bunder road, New Pind, Islam colony, Pathan colony, New Goth and Agha Badaruddin colony.

They were led by Ali Hassan Mirani and Rasool Bux Shaikh.

Speaking on the occasion, the leaders said that water was not supplied to their areas for four days including the Eid day.

They said that they were forced to buy a drum of water for Rs100.

The protesters threatened to observe a sit-in at the Lans down bridge if water was not supplied to their areas within 24 hours.

KILLING: One person was gunned down by armed persons in Shikarpur on Thursday night over an old enmity.

According to details, one Arbab Ali Gopang was going to home when three armed persons shot him dead and fled.

On information, police arrested Azeem Jaffery, while raids were under way to arrest his accomplices.

KARO-KARI: A woman was put to death by her stepson over the pretext of karo-kari in the Abdash Shakh village of the Shikarpur district on late Thursday night.

Naimat Khatoon, 22, was shot dead by Paryal Chandio as he suspected that she had illicit relations with someone.
