HYDERABAD, Jan 13: Activists of the Sindh Taraqqi Pasand Party staged a demonstration outside the press club here on Friday in protest against Kalabagh dam, greater Thal canal and army ‘operation’ in Balochistan.

Speaking on the occasion, STPP leaders Muzaffar Kalhoro and Shaukat Abro and Nari Tehrik leader Hakimzadi Thebo said the rulers were bent upon committing genocide of Sindhi people through the Kalabagh dam.

They said the Sindhi nation was united and it would strongly resist construction of the Kalabagh dam.

They criticized ongoing ‘operation’ in Balochistan and demanded that the operation should be stopped forthwith.

JOURNALISTS: Journalists of Hyderabad at an urgent meeting held at the press club here on Friday condemned the torture of Adam Jamali, a Sakrand-based reporter of a vernacular daily at the hands of influential people.

The president of the club, Mr Iqbal Mallah, presided over the meeting.

The meeting observed that the attack on Mr Jamali was not only an attack on freedom of press but also a flagrant violation of fundamental human rights.

The meeting warned that if an FIR was not registered against tormentors of Adam Jamali, a protest movement would be launched in Sindh.
