KOHAT: A schoolteacher was injured when miscreants lobbed a grenade on the Kohat Cadet College police checkpost here on Tuesday. The college’s main gate was also damaged in the attack, officials said.

They said the checkpost had been established on the Rawalpindi highway to check the tribesmen coming from Jawaki area of the Darra Adamkhel tribal subdivision.

The teacher, namely Musaddiq of a government higher secondary school in Togh Bala area, sustained injuries on his head and legs caused by splinters, the officials said.

He was taken to the KDA Teaching Hospital, where surgeons removed the splinters from his body.

A month ago, a businessman was injured in firing on his car by armed motorcyclists.

It is to be recalled here that sometime back the administration of the college had removed an electricity connection to the post on the pretext that it was outside the college’s gate. The management had argued that the college had its own security system and didn’t need police security.

A case was registered against the unknown terrorists and a search operation started to trace them.
