GUJRAT: A lawyer was gunned down in firing by his expatriate elder brother over a property row in Pindi Rawan village of Miana Gondal police precincts in Mandi Bahauddin district on Monday.

Reports said lawyer Aftab Iqbal had been cultivating the land of his elder brother, Mahmood Saqib, who was settled in Germany; however both the brothers had a dispute of inherited house in the village upon which Saqib had asked Aftab to vacate the agricultural land that was being cultivated by him on a contract basis.

Aftab said he could only vacate the land after harvesting the crop within a couple of months which was not acceptable to the elder brother who opened firing at Aftab.

The suspect fled the scene soon after the incident and police later reached the spot and shifted the body to Malakwal Tehsil headquarters hospital for autopsy.

A team of forensic experts also collected forensic evidence from the scene whereas police have started investigation.

Malakwal Tehsil bar association later went on strike against the incident and demanded the arrest of the suspect. Meanwhile, two persons were gunned down in as many incidents in Gujrat.

In Machora village of Kakrali police precincts, a youth Kishwar Hussain allegedly shot dead his father, Faryad Hussain, over a domestic dispute.

Police said the deceased had divorced his wife some time back that had infuriated his son, Kishwar, who killed his father.

Police have booked the suspect under Section 302 of Pakistan Penal Code on the report of a brother of the deceased and started investigation but no arrest could be made.

In the second incident, a man Tariq Mahmood was shot dead by some unidentified armed men in Shah Jahania village in Lalamusa Saddar police area on Monday.

Tariq was on his way back home along with his wife after attending a wedding function; however unidentified armed men stopped them and shot dead Tariq on the spot and fled the scene.

Police have registered a case against unidentified suspects under Section 302 of PPC on the report of the widow and started investigation.
