GUJRAT: Police claimed on Saturday to have arrested the assassin of a woman who was shot dead over a land dispute in Chodowal village of Daulat Nagar police precincts around a month ago.

A spokesman for Gujrat police said Azmat Bibi was killed over a land dispute on Jan 22 and a case was lodged on the report of her nephew. He said District Police Officer Asad Muzaffar constituted a team to trace and arrest the suspects involved in the incident. The team arrested suspect Khalil Ahmad of the same village and recovered the pistol used in the incident.

Meanwhile, Lalamusa Saddar police claim to have arrested the suspects involved in stealing solar panels worth Rs1 million from the roof of a swimming pool in Sabir Kot on Feb 4.The police arrested Bakht Nawaz and Noor Nawab, residents of Noshehra, and recovered the solar panels from them.

FINED: Kharian Assistant Commissioner Sajid Muneer on Saturday imposed a fine of Rs80,000 on two banquet halls for violating the one-dish law.

The AC inspected various banquet halls and marquees and imposed fine on a marriage hall in Chakori Bhelowal and a marquee near Kharian.
