Balochistan action ended, says Rashid

Published January 11, 2006

ISLAMABAD, Jan 10: Federal Information Minister Shaikh Rashid Ahmed has said that the ‘operation has been wound up in Balochistan’ but the security forces will stay in the province and strictly deal with those found involved in violation of law.

Talking to a private television channel, he said that the government would not compromise on development of Balochistan.

He said that some people were presenting the Kalabagh dam as a major issue, adding that building the dam was not an egotistic decision but it was based on water needs of the country.

About recent incidents in North Waziristan, the minister said that decisions made at a tribal Jirga were not being respected in the area. —-Online
