LAHORE: In a bid to bring down the sky-rocketing prices, the Lahore divisional administration has decided to closely monitor the daily auction proceedings of vegetables and fruits at Badami Bagh and other major markets (Mandis) of the city district.

“Since the entire process of auction is very important in terms of price control, it, is therefore, a need of the hour to closely monitor all auctions of vegetables and fruits being held in different timings at all Mandis of Lahore,” Lahore Commissioner Muhammad Ali Randhawa said during his visit to Badami Bagh vegetable market—the city’s biggest Mandi—here on Sunday morning.

“So all auctions would now and onward would be monitored by the respective price control magistrates on a regular basis,” he added.

The commissioner ordered the authorities concerned to ensure presence of price control magistrates in the auctions of onion, potato, tomato, apple and banana.

He also assigned Lahore Waste Management Company (LWMC) with the task related to cleanliness of the vegetable market.

LWMC: Lahore Waste Management Company’s newly-appointed MD Babar Sahib Din on Sunday ordered the authorities concerned to complete the task of digitising the company’s entire workshops within next three days, according to a spokesman.
