GUJRANWALA: The owner of a wedding hall was killed and seven other people were injured seriously on Friday when a pickpocket’s accomplices opened fire on them in Mauza Tatle Aali.

Rana Faisal was present at his Punjab Marriage Hall when he was alerted about the presence of a pickpocket at a function. From nowhere pickpocket’s accomplices Ilyas, Sultan and others opened fire, killed Faisal and injured his brother Rana Qaiser, Hamza, Adeel and others. The injured were shifted to the THQ Hospital, while Qaiser was shifted to a Lahore hospital in a critical condition.

The police arrested Ilyas and Sultan. Raids were on to arrest the other suspects.

CRACKDOWN: The district administration continued a crackdown on petrol hoarders.

DC Fayyaz Ahmed Mohal and Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) Shabbir Hussain raided petrol pumps across the district and sealed five pumps and imposed Rs143,000 on others for profiteering and hoarding.

The DC said the district administration was taking actions against those who created shortage of petroleum products.
