BAHAWALPUR: The trophy of the 18th Cholistan Jeep Rally will be unveiled at its inaugural ceremony to be held on Tuesday (tomorrow) here in the DHA.

The jeep rally is being organised by the divisional administration, in collaboration with the Tourism Development Corporation of Punjab (TDCP).

A large number of people, including sponsors and former champions of the rally, will attend the ceremony.

As a number of festivities related to the mega sports event were already going on.

According to organisers, around 100 rally participants, including navigators and drivers, were expected to arrive here on Tuesday (Feb 8) from all over the country, including Karachi and interior Sindh.

Later, the vehicle owners, navigators and drivers would move to the Derwar Fort in Cholistan, for registration and technical examination of their vehicles.

The drivers participating in the rally would also undergo medical examination, to be conducted to ensure their fitness for the event.

Later, a drivers’ conference will also be held, followed by draws for the participants in the qualifying round to be held on Feb 9.

According to jeep rally schedule, the flag-off ceremony will be held on Feb 10, when first rounds of male and female “prepared categories” would be held at the Dilwash Stadium at Jamgarh.

On the Feb 11 morning, the male and female “stock categories” jeep races and a bike race would be held at Dilwash Stadium at Bhijnot.

On Feb 12, the second rounds of male and female drivers’ “prepared categories”, and a dirt bike race, would be held at the Dilwash Stadium, Bhijnot, followed by announcement of results and a prize-distribution function.
