KARACHI: Senior teacher passes away

KARACHI, Jan 8: Prof Maya Jamil, 87, passed away here on Saturday after a brief illness. She was rushed to PNS Shifa a week earlier, where her condition deteriorated. Maya Jamil taught English literature in Lucknow and Karachi. After migrating to Pakistan with her husband, who worked with the public relations department of PIA, Mrs Jamil was on the faculty of Sind Muslim College and later at the University of Karachi. Prof Maya Jamil had been the head of the English Department for many years.

After her retirement she taught English at the PACC for quite a few years.

She is survived by two daughters.
