KARACHI: Five citizens were shot at and wounded by armed robbers in different parts of the metropolis on Friday, said police and rescue services officials.
The Pak Colony police said that a man, Shan Ghouri, 26, was shot and wounded when he put up resistance to a robbery near Shirin Bakery in Old Golimar.
The injured citizen was taken to the Dr Ruth Pfau Civil Hospital Karachi.
In another incident in the same area, a 22-year-old man, Shahzaib was shot and wounded during robbery resistance near Benazir Park. The wounded man has been taken to the Dr Ruth Pfau Civil Hospital Karachi (CHK).
The Shershah police said that a 45-year-old man, Murad Aziz, was shot and injured during robbery resistance at Gulbai near Total petrol pump. The wounded person has been taken to the CHK.
Police claim to have arrested five suspects after shootouts
According to Surjani police, a 35-year-old man, Muharram Ali, has been shot and wounded by robbers during a mugging on Northern Bypass near Attock petrol pump.
The injured citizen has been shifted to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for treatment.
The Korangi Industrial Area police said that 22-year-old citizen Fayaz Majeed was shot and injured during dacoity on Bengali Para link road in Korangi.
The injured youth was taken to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre.
Five suspects held after
‘encounters’
Five suspected robbers were shot and wounded during separate encounters in the city on Friday.
The Memon Goth police said that an ‘encounter’ took place near Magsi Charhai at Malir Nadi where after the exchange of gunfire, three alleged robbers — Asif Juma, Safdar Yaar and Faisal Sher — were arrested with bullet wounds.
The police claimed to have recovered two 30-bore pistols and one ‘mini Kalashnikov’ and one motorbike from them. The wounded suspects were taken to the JPMC.
The Gadap City police said that one wounded suspected robber identified as Mukhtiyar Ali was arrested after an ‘encounter’ near Kareem Society in Gadap while his alleged accomplice managed to escape from the spot. The injured person was shifted to the ASH.
The Aziz Bhatti police said that an encounter took place near Federal Urdu University in Gulshan-i-Iqbal, where after an exchange of gunfire, one ‘robber’ identified as Shakir was apprehended with bullet wounds.
The police claimed to have recovered one TT pistol and one motorbike from his possession. The wounded suspect has been shifted to the JPMC.
