KARACHI: Three matches were decided on the opening day of the Inter-school Hockey Championship which commenced at the KHA Sports Complex on Monday.

Muneer Ahmed hogged limelight with a hat-trick as Ghulaman-e-Abbas School thrashed Pakistan Steel School 5-0 in the opening fixture. Wajahat Ali chipped in a brace to complete the tally.

In another match, GBSS Malir scored a solitary goal victory over Graceful Grammar School. Shumail Ahmed scored the decisive goal for winners.

Habib Public School outplayed Qamar Bani Has­him School by tennis score of 6-0. Hamza Sohail netted two goals while Zain Raza, Ali Hasnain, Akbar Ali and Sajjad Hussain scored one each to complete the rout. The matches marked the inauguration of new astroturf which has been laid by the provincial government in the recent past.
