LAHORE: Favorite colt Bella Verde put on a spectacular display of speed and stamina to win feature event Blooming Maid Cup during the Lahore Winter Meeting here at the Racecourse on Sunday.
The dark-bay son of Tybalt dominated the 1300-meter race with a superb ride from jockey Shahbaz A., finishing with more than 10 lengths to spare over bay colt Al Ravi. Colts Glorious One and Pani Pat rounded out the top four, clocking in at a minute and 19 seconds.
In the main supporting event, the Thrill Cup, long-shot bay horse Naymar made a late surge to beat out colt Summer Beauty at the finish line, upsetting the odds.
Favorite chestnut colt Jim And Tonic underperformed and came in third.
In the Winter Cup, long-shot bay colt Fast And Furious came from behind to beat favorite colt Champ in the 1100-meter race. Fast And Furious won by five lengths. Bay colt J.K. also made a comeback, showing remarkable improvement to win the Nanga Parbat Cup run over 1100 meters. J.K. easily beat Al Mujali by five lengths, with the filly Muqadas coming in third.
