LAHORE: Indian baseball team is still waiting to get clearance for the issuance of their visas to visit Pakistan for participating in the West Asia Baseball Cup starting in Islamabad on Jan 26, a top official of the Pakistan Federation Baseball (PFB) said on Saturday.

PFB President Syed Fakhar Ali Shah said the visas had been issued to the other participating teams namely Palestine, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and Nepal, adding the Indian team was still waiting for their visas.

“Time is running out but I hope that by Monday, the Indian team will also get the visas,” he said.

Fakhar said the Pakistan team was currently practising for the West Asia Baseball Cup at the Islamabad Sports Complex, adding the boys were fully prepared to do well.

According to the PFB president, both India and Nepal were to arrive in Lahore via Wagah Border while Bangladesh will arrive at the Lahore Airport and Palestine will land in Islamabad.

“The Indian team [for the event in Islamabad] has been announced, their players have gathered in New Delhi; as soon as they get the visas they will cross the border,” Fakhar added.
