LARKANA: A young man was shot dead and his brother and street guard were wounded by unknown assailants who barged into a house and opened fire on the family in Pir Jo Goth near Naudero town some 20 kilometres from here late Sunday night.

The incident took place within the jurisdiction of the Naudero police station.

The police said that the head of the family was a labourer, Inayatullah Shaikh. The family sensing something fishy upon intrusion woke up prompting the armed men to open fire in the dark without targeting anyone. One of the family members, Kamran Shaikh, sustained fatal bullet wounds.

Other family members along with the street guard chased the fleeing criminals. During the chase, an exchange of fire took place in which Kamran’s brother, Imran, and the watchman, Qamaruddin Arabi, received bullet wounds.

The attackers, however, managed to escape.

The wounded victims were taken to the Chandka Medical College Hospital for treatment.

Soon after the incident, police went after the attackers to nab them following their footprints but in vain.
