SARGODHA, Jan 5: The Anti-Corruption Establishment had helped retrieved over 200 acres of state land in one of the two big land scams while the government officials involved in it were taken to task during the last year. This was disclosed by Anti-Corruption Establishment deputy director Capt Aftab Ahmad while talking to reporters here on Thursday.

He said that 1,298 kanals of state land was allotted by officials including, patwari and tehsildar, to Muhammad Rafiq and eight others in Tehsil Noorpur tehsil, Khushab district. He claimed that all the culprits implicated in the fake allotment were taken to task.

In another case, he said that Mianwali EDO Ejaz Husain Baloch had in violation of rules and regulations inflicted a heavy loss to the government exchequer by allotting precious state land in the name of a fake person. The corrupt official was sent to jail.

Giving details, Capt Ahmed said that during the period 1,478 complaints had been received against various departments.

He said that some 399 complaints were made against revenue officers and 324 against the police. While 152 complaints were received about the corruption in the local government and 117 in irrigation department.

As many as 72 complaints were lodged against officials of the health department and 65 against the education department. He said that 279 complaints were under process.

Similarly, he said huge amounts were extorted by Cooperative Bank officials against fake agricultural pass books issued by revenue officers in Kallur Kot, Bhakkar district. — Correspondent
