KARACHI: Two minor siblings were drowned and believed to have died in sea at Manora, police and rescue services said on Thursday.

Mauripur police SHO Ghulam Husain Korai said that a man threw his sons into sea at Manora on Wednesday evening, and then attempted suicide by jumping into sea, but was rescued by the people. The police took the man into custody.

The officer said that Kashif Masih told the police that he is a resident of Essa Nagri. Kashif said he had developed ‘serious differences’ with his wife as she was allegedly having an affair with another man, which was why he attempted to commit suicide along with his children on Wednesday. The SHO said Kashif had remained a male nurse at the Aga Khan University Hospital (AKUH), but presently was a working at another private hospital.

Meanwhile, an Edhi Foundation spokesperson said their divers launched rescue efforts, and added that the children were aged between six to nine years.
