When friends come over, you need some spicy and delicious snacks to enjoy together as you chat or watch movies.

Here is a very simple recipe of an interesting savoury snack that I took inspiration of from a couple of recipes and then invented. I am calling it ‘bread crisps squares’ and you can add some variation to it and give it some other name!

What I used for it — ketchup, green chilli sauce, mayo, masala chips, chicken tikka chunks and cheddar cheese, with bread — are my preferences, you can always replace or add any of these with what you would like to eat. It’s that simple!

The recipe is very easy, though can be time consuming if you have to make these for a lot of people. But when you try it once, I assure you, you will pick up speed and are always going to make it when friends come over!
So let’s check it out.

Ingredients

• 6 bread slices, or as required • 1/4 cup tomato ketchup • 1/4 cup green chilli sauce • 1/2 cup mayonnaise
• 1/4 cup cheddar cheese, grated • 1/2 cup chicken tikka chunks • 1 cup spicy chips • 1/2 teaspoon crushed red chillies

Method

Cut the ends of the bread slices and then cut each slice into four pieces. We will be using three pieces for one bread crisps square, so six slices will lead to eight squares. You can increase and decrease the ingredients according to the servings you need.

Now cut the chicken tikka chunks into very small pieces, add half the mayonnaise and the crushed chillies. Combine.

Spread the green chilli sauce, you can also use any green chutney, on one side of 8 bread pieces, keep aside. Spread the mayo chicken tikka chunks on 8 more bread pieces and spread tomato ketchup on the remaining 8 pieces. Now place the chicken tikka-covered slice on top of the green chutney-covered slice, then cover with the tomato ketchup slice, all sides with spreads facing inside. Insert a toothpick for easy handling.

Now crush the spicy chips to very small pieces. Spread mayonnaise on the sides of the bread squares and roll these sides over the crushed chips pieces to cover completely. You can lightly press the crushed chips with your hands so that they stick well to the sides of the bread.

Remove the toothpicks, top with grated cheese and grill in the oven for 10 minutes, or until the cheese melts from the top.

Serve with ketchup and green chutney and more chips!
