GUJRAT: Scores of consumers of the Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited (SNGPL), particularly the women, staged a protest demonstration against the loadshedding in front of Malakwal office of the company in Mandi Bahauddin district on Tuesday.

The protesters blocked the main bypass road and chanted slogans against the shortage of gas.

The protesting women said since the start of winter they were unable to get the gas supply for cooking meals. Traffic in the area went out of gear due to the demonstration as the protesters staged a sit-in on the road.

However, police reached the spot and negotiated with the people and assured them of forwarding their demands to the SNGPL high-ups to resolve their issue only after which the protesters dispersed peacefully.
