LAHORE: The Punjab Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) on Monday predicted rain and snow in different areas of the province from Wednesday to Friday.

A PDMA press release, quoting the Meteorological Department, says the western winds will affect the areas of North Balochistan on Jan 10. The winds will enter at night and will affect the upper regions of the country on Jan 11.

The department says from Jan 11 to 13, there is a possibility of rain and snowfall in Murree. There is also a possibility of heavy snowfall in Murree this time, likely to block the roads and disrupt the movement of vehicles, it adds.

The PDMA advised the travelers to these areas to take precautions as the temperatures are likely to drop significantly during and after the rains. In case of any emergency, they could call on the PDMA helpline 1129.

Moreover, it says, there is a possibility of rain in Islamabad, Lahore, Sargodha, Mianwali, Khushab, Bhakkar and Layyah between Jan 11 and 13.

According to the met department, light to moderate rain is also expected in Faisalabad, Toba Tek Singh, Jhang, Gujranwala, Gujarat, Hafizabad, Sialkot, Narowal, Sheikhupura, Nankana Sahib, Kasur, Sahiwal, Okara and Dera Ghazi on Jan 11 and 12. Light rain may occur in DG Khan, Muzaffargarh, Multan, Khanewal and Pakpattan.
