GUJRAT: A Gujranwala Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) on Monday issued notices to the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) chairman, the 11 injured people, Senator Ijaz Chaudhry and joint investigation team (JIT) members after the lawyer of main suspect Naveed Basheer Araen in the gun attack case in Wazirabad, filed applications in the court seeking polygraphic tests of the complainant, prosecution and 13 others.

The petitioner also sought forensic tests of the mobile phones of these respondents to ascertain the authenticity of their claims and statements, which he said had been contradicted.

Earlier, the JIT produced suspect Naveed in the ATC after the completion of his physical remand, and a member of the JIT requested the court to extend the physical remand as the previous remand was taken to conduct the second polygraphic test of the suspect, which could not be done due to the concerned officer’s being on the leave and the further remand was required to conduct the test.

However, the lawyer opposed the physical remand and demanded that the court send the suspect on judicial remand in the custody of court upon which the ATC judge ordered sending the suspect on judicial remand.

The suspect has been in police custody since Nov 3 after being arrested by the police at a compound near the crime scene along old GT Road in Wazirabad. The suspect’s friend Waqas was also arrested for being involved in helping the suspect to arrange a pistol, which was used in the incident and that co-accused was on a 12-day physical remand.

Mr Dawood also filed miscellaneous applications seeking medical reports of all the injured people in the incident since the suspect was not being given these medical reports so far further causing doubts on these reports.

The court issued notices to PTI chief Imran Khan, Sub-Inspector Amer Shahzad Bhadar, the complainant in the gun attack case, JIT, Senator Chaudhry and all the injured people to submit their response by January 19, the next date of hearing.
