ISLAMABAD: As many as 13 absconders involved in heinous crimes have been arrested during the last six days, a police public relations officer said on Sunday.

Following directions of Inspector General of Police (IGP) Dr Akbar Nasir Khan, tasks were assigned to all police officials to ensure that proclaimed offenders involved in heinous crimes were arrested. All sub-divisional police officers and station house officers were directed to launch a massive crackdown against proclaimed offenders and court absconders.

Similarly, police took prompt action against underage motorcyclists and drivers during the ongoing month and imposed fines on them.

Meanwhile, the funeral prayer of a police constable, Ghulam Murtaza, was offered at Police Lines Headquarters.

A police spokesperson said Superintendent of Police (SP) Headquarter Saood Khan, SP Supreme Court Raja Tahir and a large number of police officers offered the funeral prayer.

The officer was admitted to the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (Pims) due to kidney and lung disease but could not survive.

IGP Khan condoled with the family of the deceased and assured them that they would be fully supported. Late Constable Ghulam Murtaza left behind two daughters and one son.
