TOBE TEK SINGH: Two gunmen were killed in an encounter with Faisalabad police on Friday.

Four people riding three motorcycles were stopped by a police picket on the Sarrianwala Canal bridge in Tandlianwala Saddar, according to SHO Ali Ikram, but instead of stopping, they began firing on the police.

Two of the outlaws were found injured while two others fled as police pursued them close to Chak 615-GB, the scene of crossfire between the two sides. Both injured suspects died as a result of their wounds while being transported to the Tandlianwala THQ Hospital.

They were identified as Shahid Iqbal and Ihsanul Haq, who were both wanted by the police in a number of murder and robbery cases.

Sources say both the gunmen were target killers and killers of Samundri Bar Association President Ghazanfar Ali Warraich.

FDA: Deputy Commissioner Imran Hamid Sheikh visited the Faisalabad Development Authority (FDA) Complex on Friday and took a briefing about the performance of the FDA.

FDA Director General Dr Zahid Ikram apprised him that 18 residential colonies and 17 commercial markets are under them, while the FDA has the power to sanction private housing schemes.

A 20-year Faisalabad Master Plan has been approved as a result of five-year efforts by the FDA. The FDA record is being digitalized to maintain complete transparency, while a sports complex is being completed at FDA City at a cost of Rs500 million.

In addition to growing the urban forest and planting orchards, the FDA is developing plant nurseries. A project of overseas block establishment at 624 kanals is underway at the FDA City and the setting up of a police station at the city is also proposed, while a journalists’ housing colony would also be established at the FDA City.
