GILGIT: Chief Minister Khalid Khurshid summoned the first meeting of the GB Land Reforms Committee on Thursday (today).
The 14-member committee, led by the chief minister, has been formed to propose land reforms in Gilgit-Baltistan and protect state/private land from illegal occupation and to control prevailing unrest in the region regarding the status of Khalisa Sarkar land.
Chief Secretary Mohyuddin Ahmed Wani informed a meeting that the draft ‘Land Reforms Act’ prepared by the Board of Revenue (BoR) had been submitted to the CM Secretariat and it may be presented to the committee’s members for discussion.
The CS requested CM Khurshid that the chief minister of Punjab should be asked for an early approval of a memorandum of understanding, to be signed between the BoR and Punjab Land Record Authority, for computerisation of land record in GB.
The memorandum has already been approved by the GB cabinet.
