ISLAMABAD, Jan 4: Acting Chief Election Commissioner Justice Abdul Hameed Dogar on Wednesday fixed January 7 for naib nazims elections in different tehsil councils of the Punjab. The elections will be held in Khushab, Gojra, Chunian, Muridke, Toba Tek Singh, Kasur and Sheikhupura tehsils. The elections are being held second time as none of the candidates could secure majority votes in the polls held earlier.

Polling will also be held for the seats of naib nazims in Ferozewala and Isakhels tehsils. In Ferozewala, elections were postponed by the returning officer because on account of law and order situation while in Isakhel polling was deferred due to absence of majority of the teshil council members.

Meanwhile in a separate announcement, the acting CEC declared Ali Akbar Mazhar Wains as successful candidate on National Assembly seat NA-189 Bahawalnagar-I.
