DADU: The Sindh government appointed late on Monday evening vice chancellors of Liaquat University of Medical and Health Sciences (LUMHS), Jamshoro, and Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto Medical University (SMBBU), Larkana, and they took over charge of their offices on Tuesday.
Following orders of Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah, universities and boards secretary Mohammad Mureed Rahimoo issued notifications of the appointments of Prof Dr Ikramuddin Ujjan as vice chancellor of the LUMHS and Prof Dr Nusrat Shah as that of the SMBBMU for four years each late on Monday evening.
Speaking to Dawn, Mr Rahimoo said that after completing the process of shortlisting and scrutiny, the names were sent to the CM for selections by the selection committee and top most professors had been appointed on the vacant posts.
“The names would be short listed for seven other universities, including Mehran University of Engineering and Technology, Jamshoro, and Dawood Engineering and Technology University for appointments of VCs till Jan 10, 2023, and they will be appointed till the end of January 2023,” he said.
Talking to this reporter, LUMHS VC Dr Prof Ujjan said he had planned to promote the academic and other sections of the university. Merit would be key to resolve all issues, he said.
SMBBMU VC Prof Dr Nusrat Shah said that all problems of students, their hostels and faculty members would be solved on merit.
“Every step will be taken according to law and everyone will be facilitated within it,” he said.
