KHYBER: Sajid Ali Kukikhel has been elected unopposed as president of Jamrud Press Club (JPC), while electoral contest for the same position of Bara Press Club ended in a tie.

The election committee of Bara Press Club (BPC), however, nominated Munir Khan as president for the first six months and Iqbal Afridi for the later six months of the year.

Mohammad Akbar defeated his rival Shehzad Afridi and secured the post of JPC general secretary while Zakir Afridi and Saeedullah were elected as general secretary and vice-president of BPC, respectively.

The elected representatives vowed that they would strive for the resolution of issues being faced by the journalist community in Khyber district and demanded the provincial government to immediately issue the suspended grant for their press clubs.
