KARACHI: A shoe was thrown at Sindh Governor Kamran Khan Tessori while he was talking to media along with Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P) leader Dr Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui near Numaish Chowrangi in the wee hours of Sunday morning.

The incident was caught on camera when the two leaders were talking to the media amid New Year celebrations featuring fireworks. The governor remained unhurt and the shoe landed near him on the podium.

The incident attracted strong criticism from different political parties.

Senior politician and head of Organisation Restoration Committee of the MQM-P Dr Farooq Sattar while condemning the incident called it an attempt of the opponents who were against the efforts of Governor Tessori for uniting the urban Sindh political leadership.

The Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) also condemned the incident calling it undemocratic and indecent. “Political differences aside, such incidents can never be justified and should always be condemned,” said a PTI Karachi chapter spokesperson.
