HARIPUR: A woman here on Saturday accused her husband of shaving her head and subjecting her to severe beating that left her hand and foot fractured in a remote village of Pind Hasham Khan union council over suspicion that she was having a mobile phone and using it for talking to someone.

Accompanied by her elder sister Bano Bibi, the victim, a resident of Nartopa village, told mediapersons she was married to Rashid from the same locality about 20 years ago and they had seven children. Two of their daughters were married.

She said that on Dec 25 morning she was home with her five minor children when Rashid came and warned her of serious consequences if she failed to hand him over the mobile phone which he believed she had hid somewhere.

“He started beating me with an iron wire and left me injured on my right hand, shoulders and foot,” she said.

The woman claimed her husband also shaved part of her head. She said one of her daughters went to her relatives’ homes and some women came for her rescue.

The victim appealed to the government for giving her and her five children a shelter and police protection from the accused.

When contacted, Saddar police here confirmed that the woman was rescued by a police party and taken to trauma centre where her medical examination was conducted.

Investigation officer Wazir Mohammad said the preliminary medical report confirmed that the victim’s right hand and right foot were fractured and her body carried violence marks while her head was partly shaved.

He said the police registered a criminal case against the accused and had started raids for his arrest.
