PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Revenue Authority (KPRA) gave away awards to the top contributing taxpayers in the financial year 2021-22 on Thursday to recognise their role in the province’s development.

The KPRA presented mementos to 51 taxpayers selected from 10 different sectors and awarded the top five withholding agents for their revenue contribution to the authority’s collection in year 2021-22 and their overall tax compliance level.

These taxpayers included businesses run by individuals and associations of persons and companies from both the corporate and non-corporate sectors.

A ceremony in this regard was held at KPRA headquarters in Peshawar where representatives of the best-performing taxpayers were invited. Finance minister Taimur Khan Jhagra was chief guest at the ceremony attended by members of the authority’s policy board, including provincial ministers and others.

KPRA director general Mohammad Kabir Afridi appreciated the award winners and the authority’s team.

Mr Jhagra praised the taxpayers and said KPRA’s annual growth rate was increasing rapidly compared to other provinces. “This year, we are hopeful to take our revenue collection to Rs40 billion,” he said.
