RAWALPINDI, Jan 3: The newly-elected naib nazims of the district and five towns were administered oath of their offices on Tuesday. Afzal Khokhar took the oath as naib nazim of the city district government. District and Sessions Judge Khwaja Imtiaz Ahmed administered the oath to the new naib nazim.

Similarly, naib nazim Rawal Town Farooq Azam was administered the oath by Additional District and Sessions Judge Arshad Iqbal; Potohar Town naib nazim Chaudhry Mohammad Farooq took oath from Additional District and Sessions Judge Shaukat Mehmood. Naib nazim Kallar Syedan Mohammad Nawaz and Kotli Sattian naib nazim Haji Abdul Salam were together administered the oath of their offices by the additional district and sessions judge.

In Murree, the newly-elected naib nazim, Ziaur Rehman, took the oath from Civil Judge-1 Abid Rizwan Abid. The naib nazim of Kahuta, Raja Sultan Maqbool, did not take the oath, as he was out of the country.

This completed the district government assembly and councils of the towns. They will now start regular sessions to discuss various issues within their purview; approve projects for their respective areas and also sanction funds for the schemes.

Our Taxila Correspondent adds: The newly- elected naib nazims of Taxila and Hassanabdal, Malik Tariq Mehmood and Syed Sadda Hussain, respectively, took oath of their offices in separate ceremonies.

Additional District and Sessions Judge Abdul Karim Langah administered the oath to Taxila naib nazim Malik Tariq Mehmood, while in Hassanabdal, Additional District and Sessions Judge Ghazanffar Raja administered the oath to Syed Sadda Hussain Shah.
