ISLAMABAD: The deputy commissioner has sought time from the Islamabad High Court (IHC) for submitting a report regarding construction of a bus stand in Islamabad.
DC Islamabad Irfan Nawaz Memon appeared before IHC Chief Justice Aamer Farooq in response to petitions filed by the local transport owners seeking establishment of proper Bus Stand and permission to run the pickup points near Faizabad.
Justice Farooq remarked that the federal capital was established without proper bus stand, courts complex and hospitals to cater to the requirements of the residents.
He observed that the IHC had issued direction for construction of a bus stand some three years back but the civic agency did not implement the order.
DC Memon admits laxity in this issue and told the court that the CDA Board has accorded approval for this project in 2018.
Justice Farooq expressed displeasure over CDA’s lethargy and reminded the DC that being a head of the Municipal Corporation of Islamabad (MCI) he was duty bound to address grievances of citizens.
DC informed the court that the city administration is going to conduct local government’s elections on Dec 31 and sought 45 days time to submit the report.
The court adjourned further hearing in this matter till March 3.
